Sake Brewers Association Overview

Overview of the Sake brewery Association

The Miyazaki Sake Brewers Association was unified in October 2003 by the seven sake brewers associations in the prefecture.

Our association consists of 38 producers of sake, single distilled shochu, and two types of mirin (sweet cooking rice wine) as listed in the “List of all breweries” on the “Sake-Related Links” page.

The name “mono-distilled shochu” is a revision of the previous term “shiyochu Otsu”, which was revised in May 2006 by the revision of the Liquor Tax Law.

For a long time, our industry has referred to “authentic shochu” as “authentic shochu Otsu.

Miyazaki no Genkaku Shochu” is the generic name for authentic shochu produced in Miyazaki Prefecture, and is registered with the Japan Patent Office as a regional collective trademark (regional brand).

Trademark owner: Miyazaki Sake Brewers Association, registered in August 2007, registration No. 5070515
