GREETINGS
Ochiai Shuzo Brewery has been producing authentic shochu since 1909 in Akaue, Miyazaki City, and in 2007 the brewery moved to its current location in Kagamizu, Miyazaki City. The current brewery is located in a basin surrounded by mountains, overlooking Mount Boroishi (a national natural monument) in the Wanizuka mountain range. The Kagamisu River (a tributary of the Kaeda River) flows close to the brewery and its underground water is used as brewing water. All the ingredients are produced domestically, and only sweet potatoes produced by one contract farmer are used. Since the company was founded, the sake mother has been brewed in a 200-year-old Sansekiwa jar (a 540 litre ceramic jar). Our company aims to produce a delicious shochu that our customers love to drink on a daily basis and keep in touch with us for a long time.

AKAE
This authentic sweetpotato shochu is distilled under normal pressure and unfiltered, using white malted rice made from domestic rice and Murasaki Yuu, a purple sweetpotato produced in Miyazaki Prefecture and grown by contract farmers using ‘green manure cultivation’. It has a berry fruit-like aroma derived from the purple sweetpotato and a mild sweetpotato shochu original flavour, and is characterised by a gentle mouthfeel and a soft, full and tender aftertaste. It has a taste with sufficient depth to complement food as a food sake.
HETTUINEKO
This authentic sweetpotato shochu is made from Kogane Sengan grown with green manure and blended with Japanese black rice malt, and Murasaki Masari, also grown with white malt. It has the lustrous sweet aroma of Murasakimasari and the authentic flavour of Kogane Sengan potato shochu. The depth of flavour spreads out widely without stimulation. The fine aftertaste invites the next sip and the next dish, and enlivens the taste of the sake snacks. This shochu has the depth of nostalgia to be matched with a variety of dishes as a food sake.

YMABUKI NO SATO
This sweetpotato shochu has a strong aroma and deep flavour, made from Miyazaki Prefecture's ‘Kogane Sengan’ grown with green manure and brewed with black malted rice from domestic rice. It is a standard, traditional potato shochu. It has a slight sweet-potato aroma with a sweet-potato odour. The core of the sweetpotato origin has a thick and strong flavour that floats softly. The balance of aroma and flavour is good, with a mellow, round aftertaste without any harshness. It is the perfect potato shochu for a mealtime drink that enhances food.
KAGAMISU GINGER
This single distillation shochu is made from rice malt, barley and ginger, and distilled by single-stage decompression. It is characterised by a cool, refreshing aroma unique to ginger, a light sweetness and a pleasant, sharp taste. It contains about 20% ginger by weight. Recommended on the rocks, with water or soda. Especially with soda, you can enjoy the cool, refreshing ginger aroma and dry taste.
